My Review:This is the opening segment for a 4 novella series and as that, it definitely worked.
Angel is a freshman majoring in film. He earned a full scholarship based on his videos. Angel is not your typical college freshman. He comes from a very poor family and the pictures Daisy Harris drew of him made me picture a gang-banger type...really tough with an angry facade. He's also deeply in the closet...has never really even admitted to himself that he's gay, much less someone else. So when Shane begins to affect him, Angel lashes out before any other type of reaction. It's his natural defense instinct.
Shane knows that he probably shouldn't get involved with Angel. Shane is 6 years older than Angel and the TA in one of Angel's classes, but Angel has a vulnerability and neediness about him that Shane can't ignore. He tries...at first, but that doesn't work out so well for him in the long run.
Like I said, this is set up as a 4 book series that follows Angel through his four years of college. I'm anxious to see how it plays out. In this first book, Angel is simply so unsure and vulnerable when it comes to all this sexual stuff that simply scares him. I know there is going to be a great character arc for him over the series and I think it's going to be really good. This is also set up with a HUGE difference where these two guys are at in their lives. I'm interested to see how Daisy Harris works that part of the story.
The nice thing is that all the novellas are fairly short so I can slide them into my normal reading without taking too much time away from the books that I need to read.

I'm a huge fan of Daisy's writing. Freshman Uncut is scorchingly hot, filled with intense m/m sex, while still delivering sympathetic, relatable characters. Loved it! Can't wait to read more about Angel )
This was my first time reading anything written by this author. The blurb seemed promising and I like what the possibilities could be between a street smart kid and a TA. Though not great, I still see the potential for these two and this series and hope that the next installment gives us more of the dynamics of their lives together, not just them jumping in and out of bed.
Hoping for more in the next book.
I have really liked all of Daisy Harris's m/m romances I've read this year and this one was no exception. One of the things I enjoy the most about her work is how she concentrates on the college years and how they shape her hero's lives. This was a great start to what I think will be a fascinating look at the growth of a relationship in those (usually) four years. I like both characters and am excited to learn more about them. Plus there is just the right amount of steaminess for my taste!
Fans of Harris's Holsum college series will love this new series as it follows one couple through four years of college and beyond. Each of the four installments stands alone, but the progression is really fun to watch too as feelings deepen and lust gives way to deeper questions. This opening novella is among her hottest books--Shane and Angel have instant chemistry and Angel is one of my favorite virgin heroes. Fair warning This is singe-your-eyebrows-off HOT, but there's also a really nice emotional arc that makes the love scenes all the sweeter.
Another great college story from Daisy Harris..... Angel is a very dark character with some issues, Shane may be what he needs to get out of his head and open up. He wants Shane so much, but doen't know how to get what he wants. Shane alternates between understanding and annoyance with him. This is a good start to what I hope will be a continuing story, giving them the chance to grow more. I've liked Daisy's other books quite a bit, but getting more than one story about a couple will be nice, really giving her a chance to develop the characters and storyline, and giving us a chance to get in to it more.
I liked the background of the college setting and the other characters, Steffie is a fun pain in Angels butt, and will be a good friend to him.
Read this book, and if you haven't, go read more of Daisy's books! They are worth it!

This is the first installment of the story of Shane and Angel. Shane is pretty much a good guy who is TA for an Into to Film class. Angel is a freshman in the class and although he has a very tough exterior, Shane sees something more in him.
Angel's desire for another man does not sit easy with him. He battles his own feelings. He is frustrated, he is angry, he is confused. "Hell, he wanted Shane to force him. Angel was too hot. Too hard. Too scared, and angry. He didn't know what to so with any of it. He wanted to punch Shane, but he wanted Shane to punch him worse." It is really interesting to watch Angel's internal battle - he wants Shane's attention, he wants Shane to look at him, to touch him but at the same time he wants to run away.
I loved the dream sequence where Angel dreams of having sex with Shane - a bed appearing in Shane's office, suddenly being naked, unexpectedly changing locations. It was quite a unique sex scene and really illustrated all Angel's desires, his desire for hot and passionate sex but being not having to make the decision to do it.
Shane is older than Angel but is afraid of how needy Angel is. They have explosive sex but the emotional toll is high. But as afraid as he is, Shane wants Angel badly enough to keep trying.
